Waverly's Ty Beeman signs to play baseball at Mansfield University
WAVERLY, N.Y. (WENY) - It was a special day for Waverly standout student-athlete, Ty Beeman as he signed his National Letter of Intent to play baseball at the Division-II level for Mansfield University.
Beeman is a three-sport athlete at Waverly where he plays football, wrestling, and baseball. On the baseball diamond, Beeman is a 2-time All-League catcher, and he has helped lead the team to a 15-2 regular season record and an IAC Large School title this year.
Ty says he plans to major in Physical Education and minor in Special Education at Mansfield, and he is excited to compete in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
"It's been something we've been working towards for multiple years now and I really couldn't be here without these coaches and my family, of course, they're driving me everywhere so it feels really really special," said Beeman. "I've always been since I've started looking, something close to home, something that looks like home. I grew up on my grandfather's farm. We own over 200 acres of land and I wanted something where my family and my friends could come down and watch me at home games and I just love where I grew up so I wanted to make my move more comfortable. I wanted something that looked just like home and felt just like home."
Waverly baseball will host Lansing in the Section IV Class B Quarterfinals on Monday, May 22nd and Beeman is ready to take aim at another deep run with his teammates.
"Definitely confident, just like last year we were confident but we've been coaching up, we've been doing some different things in practice and I think we are really coming together as a team which is the most important part."
