Four facing drug charges after fire alarm leads to discovery of suspicious activity
MONTOUR FALLS, NY (WENY) - Four people are facing meth making charges after firefighters found suspicious activity while responding to a fire alarm.
The Montour Falls Fire Department responded to a fire alarm around 2:30am August 4th at Romeo Village Apartments on W. Broadway Street. While investigating what set off the fire alarm, firefighters found suspicious items and contacted the Schuyler County Sheriff's Office.
Four people are charged with 3rd degree Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine. Daniel Decker, 52, was sent to the Schuyler County Jail without bail. Melissa Oquendo, 32, was sent to the Schuyler County Jail on $1,500 bail. Kevin Teed was sent to the Schuyler County Jail. Rachel Pyhtila is being held without bail.
The Schuyler County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Montour Falls Fire Department and the New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Evidence Recovery Team.
