UPDATE (1:10 p.m.) -- According to the Painted Post fire chief, three cars and a Corning-Painted Post School District bus were involved in the crash. 

According to the chief, the bus appears to have hit one of the cars, which then caused a chain reaction with the other two cars. 

49 children were reportedly on the bus at the time of the crash. 

Four people were hospitalized -- two were students on the bus and the other two were passengers of one of the cars. 

According to officials, the four people were taken to the hospital just for precautionary measures and no serious injuries have been reported. 

Corning-Painted Post Area School District released a statement on their website: 

"We are aware of an accident in Painted Post involving a Middle School bus, route number 3404. First responders are on the scene. Students are safe and as of 11:55 are being transferred to a new bus to be taken home. The district will communicate further information as it becomes available. School officials will also be in contact directly with parents/guardians of students who were on this bus."

PAINTED POST, N.Y. (WENY) -- WENY News is monitoring a situation out of Painted Post on East High Street where there was reportedly a crash between a school bus and a car. 

According to on-scene witnesses, a woman was taken away on the stretcher, but the extent of her injuries are unknown.
