Horseheads, N.Y. (WENY)-- Students and staff at Center Street Elementary School in Horseheads spent the morning honoring active service members and veterans with a celebration.

Around 100 veterans and active service members walked through the halls of the school while students waved American Flags and shook their hands, thanking them for their service. Afterward, students in the school choir performed a song for the honorees while they enjoyed their refreshments. One active service member says it feels good knowing the younger generation is showing support for veterans.

"I think it's great that this school, and a lot of schools do stuff with Veterans to show their support, and to just show that younger younger generation an appreciation for the men and women who've served our country and who've paved the way for our freedom," says Michael Warrick, an active duty service member in the U.S. Army.

The Center Street Elementary School tribute to veterans has been happening for several years now, and continues to grow each year.
