Elmira, NY (WENY) -- The Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) gave Chemung County Home Health Care their first 4.5 out of 5 star rating. This high rating places Chemung County Home Health Care in the lead for area patient care. 

CMS determines its ratings using data received from the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Home Health Care Survey which is conducted by certified independent vendors. 

The Chemung County Home Health Care staff includes registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, physical physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, a medical social worker, dietitians, certified home health aides, and diabetic educators.  

County Health Director Lisa Buckley said, "The Chemung County Home Health Care team is focused on delivering quality, compassionate, patient care every day, for every patient."

Public Health Director Peter Buzzetti agreed, saying, "Our home health care nurses strive to provide the best care possible to our patients. When done well, home care helps reduce costs by reducing re-hospitalizations. By treating patients successfully at home they can stay close to their loved ones and comfortable in their own homes."

The home health team focuses on education in self-management to maximize health, wellness and quality of life for the patients and community they serve.
