UPDATE: Victim in deadly Elmira shooting identified
UPDATE (2/11/19) Police have identified the victim in the fatal shooting in the area of Linden Place near Oak Street.
The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Charles Glasgow Junior.
Police say no further information is being released at this time and the incident is still being actively investigated. Anyone with information should call the numbers below.
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - Police are investigating an early morning shooting that left one person dead.
According to police, on Sunday morning at around 12:44, officers were dispatched to the area of Linden Pl. near Oak St. for the report of a shots fired complaint. Police say, an officer who was nearby saw a car speeding on E Washington Ave. The driver then stopped the officer and asked for assistance as the male passenger had been shot. Officers gathered further information and provided medical attention until an Ambulance arrived. It was determined that the male victim in the vehicle had been shot while in the area of Linden Pl. and Oak St. He was later pronounced deceased at the Hospital.
No further information is being released about the victim at this time.
