Residents Support Small Business at Hendy School Vendor Fair
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Dozens of vendors packed their way into the Hendy Avenue School in Elmira for a huge craft and vendor fair. The hallways were abuzz with activity, with plenty of small businesses showing off what they have to offer the area, plus a cart set up for book donations.
Each set up had something very different to showcase throughout the school, with the epicenter located in the school's gym. There you could find vast amounts of home decor and trinkets, along with savory treats such as gourmet popcorn and even maple syrup cotton candy.
Today I spoke with some of the organizers behind the craft fair, who were very pleased with the morning turnout. Co-organizer and Hendy Elementary PFO member Julia Saul told me, "The doors have only been opened for an hour, and our shopping basket is almost halfway full with books. So, that's phenomenal. We also just want to see people come in to support small businesses."
According to school officials, this is the 3rd time that they have hosted the craft/vendor fair, and the hope is that it will continue to be one of the biggest events of the year for the elementary school.
