Village of Horseheads talks Woodstock 50 preps
VILLAGE OF HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- With Woodstock 50 roughly 100 days away -- the Village of Horseheads had a round table discussion about the upcoming three day festival -- and what the village should do to help prepare for it.
With more than 100 thousand people expected to attend the festival, and Horseheads will be right in the cross hairs of thousands of travelers because one of the main routes to WGI cuts through the Village of Horseheads.
At the Tuesday meeting, Horseheads Police Chief Thomas Stickler addressed concerns regarding traffic and what's being done to prepare for the increased traffic that's expected.
Police Chief Thomas Stickler explained, "We'll have extra officers working, we expect a heavy flow of traffic. At this point it's speculation as to how many people are going to be there. So, it's a little ways out yet, but we're planning as best we can at this point."
Chief Stickler also said he reached out to other neighboring agencies to talk about the upcoming event and to talk about any possible alternate traffic routes.
