'Maid of the Mist' Going Green
ALBANY, NY (WENY) -- One of New York's biggest tourist attractions is going green.
Later this year the Maid of the Mist, at the base of Niagara Falls, will be launch two new catamaran-style boats.
The passenger vessels are all-electric and have zero-emissions.
They're currently being built by a company in Wisconsin and should be ready to hit the waters of the Lower Niagara River by mid-September.
Governor Cuomo announced the new boats late last week and says they'll help promote the state as an "environmentally friendly tourism destination."
The Maid of the Mist attracts more than 1.5 million people each and every year.
