Woodstock 50 concert organizers sue investor that backed out
NEW YORK (AP) - A dispute over whether the Woodstock 50 festival will go on has spiraled into a court fight, with organizers suing and at least temporarily silencing a former investor that sought to call off the anniversary show.
In a lawsuit this week, Woodstock 50 organizers accuse Dentsu Aegis Network of verbally and financially sabotaging the August event in Watkins Glen, New York.
A request for comment was sent to London-based Dentsu Aegis. A Manhattan judge ordered the company Thursday to stay mum at least until a hearing Monday.
Dentsu said April 29 it was canceling the event, citing concern about artists' and attendees' "health and safety."
Woodstock 50 says Dentsu can't unilaterally cancel the show and improperly snatched $18 million from festival accounts. Dentsu has said it just "recovered" cash.
