CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) – One man was arrested after police say he stabbed two other men during an altercation on Bridge Street in Corning.

According to Corning Police, on May 10 just before 1:15 a.m., uniformed members of the Corning Police Department saw a disturbance outside of a business on Bridge Street in the City. As officers approached, they say they were told a person had been stabbed.

Witnesses then reportedly directed them to a vehicle that was trying to leave the area. Police were able to pull this vehicle over as other officers arrived at the scene of the original disturbance, where they say they rendered aid to two stabbing victims. Members of the New York State Police in Painted Post and the Steuben County Sheriff's office also assisted.

Police say the investigation revealed that the driver who tried to flee the scene had been involved in an argument. The verbal argument became heated and then police say 26-year-old Amado Rincon Jr. from Elmira had stabbed two other men with a knife.

Police say one victim, a 37-year-old from Corning, was “severely stabbed” and was taken by ambulance to Robert Packer Hospital. The other victim, a 28-year-old Beaver Dams man, was treated for a minor stab wound at the scene by ambulance and City Fire personnel.

Police say the knife was recovered near the scene.

Rincon was charged with Assault in the First and Second Degree and criminal possession of a weapon.

He is being held in the Steuben County Jail pending an arraignment.
