BIG FLATS, N.Y. (WENY) – Police have confirmed to WENY News one man was arrested after several fights broke out an an MMA-sanctioned event in the Arnot Mall over the weekend.

According to the Chemung County Sheriff's Office, officers were called in after the fights broke out in a large crowd Saturday evening.

Undersheriff Sean Holley tells WENY News it was a “volatile situation” that endangered the safety of both event-goers and responding law enforcement. Holley added mall management has been cooperating with the investigation.

Multiple agencies, including the County Sheriff's Office and New York State police, responded to the call.

New York State Police at the Horseheads barracks confirmed to WENY News one man was arrested. 42-year-old James Pfrehm of Homer was charged with resisting arrested and second-degree harassment. He was issued an appearance ticket.
