WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Watkins Glen Fire Department had to deploy their technical rescue team after two dogs fell into the New York State Park gorge.

The fire department says it happened around 10 a.m. Wednesday morning. One dog did not survive -- but the other dog was able to make it to a ledge. The department's technical rescue team sent down a rescuer over the edge of the gorge. After three hours, the rescue team was able to haul the dog out of the gorge, all thanks to a dog harness.

This was not an easy rescue either, the fire department said all of the equipment had to be hand carried in and out and there was limited anchor points to use during the rescue.
