WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WENY) -- Friday afternoon, Watkins Glen International's President announced a new partnership with a local health care organization.

WGI and Cayuga Health System officials discussed some of the new projects that they are working on together, and what the future holds for their partnership.

Cayuga officials expressed the importance of getting children involved and active with the sport beginning at a young age. They recently started a new partnership with the track that focused on providing activities for kids during NASCAR weekend.

Cayuga volunteers will provide a ton of interactive games, have a fire truck on sight and giveaways for all of the families and children that attend.

President and CEO of Cayuga Health System shared what exactly this partnership will entail.

"The partnership is working together on a number of different projects. We have a healthy walking trail that we put together with them, so when people are here at the track we want them to exercise. We want people to do other activities, and so we developed the Cayuga trail that goes throughout the track grounds which is wonderful," says John Rudd, CEO and President of Cayuga Health System.

"I think it shows that they are connected to the community, and they really are. They have been a phenomenal community partner. They support things in this community around the region. We are really privileged to have that relationship, where they care about the community and they do things to support this community. So it's a win-win relationship between our two organizations," Rudd added.

Cayuga and WGI officials say they are very excited to see what the future will hold for this new partnership.
