State officials discuss implications of industrial hemp in Pennsylvania
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WENY) -- Now that hemp is legal in Pennsylvania, state officials are hoping to spur economic development through industrial hemp production.
Marijuana and hemp are varieties of the cannabis plant. The only significant difference is the amount of the psychoactive component THC -- hemp has almost none.
State representatives are seriously discussing the implications of industrial hemp in the Keystone State, and district attorneys are looking to work proactively with key stakeholders to avoid any unintended consequences lawmakers move forward on this issue.
