Elmira, NY (WENY) -- The Clemens Center will be rocking and rolling this weekend, as the sound of jazz reverberates for the 8th annual Ferrario Elmira Jazz Festival.

Jazz Fest kicked off at around 6:00pm Friday afternoon with a light reception inside the Clemens Center. The first songs were sang around 7:30pm from the musical stylings of Keiko Matsui.

The festival is the largest fundraiser for the Economic Opportunity Program.  The goal they're looking to raise is $40,000. The EOP's Vice President of Community and Donor relations said they've come extremely close in the past to making that goal. Vice President Anita Lewis said each year they've held the festival more and more people have come and more and more people have donated.

All of the money raised goes directly to programs like early headstart and regular headstart. It also allows for the EOC to have some of the after school programs and provide meals.

"It raises revenue for us, with support services and all of our programs because as you know, state and federal funds do not cover all the different expenses that we have for programs and that's for youth and families. So we always need to fundraiser to help us do more." said Lewis.

Tickets are still available.  A list of times and for more information on the event, head over to their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/events/494654954674508/.
