Two off-duty NYS Troopers injured in motorcycle accident, one seriously
SODUS, N.Y. (WENY) – Two off-duty state troopers were injured, one seriously, after a motorcycle accident.
State Police say on Saturday, August 10 just before 9:30 a.m., troopers responded to a serious accident involving two motorcycles driven by two off-duty state troopers.
Both motorcycles were reportedly traveling eastbound on State Route 104 near Redman Road in the Town of Sodus. The lead motorcycle, which was being driven by Sgt. Steven Mowers, slowed down for an uninvolved accident.
Troopers say the second motorcycle, driven by Trooper Michael Burdett, was unable to slow in time and hit Mower's motorcycle from behind.
Burdett was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight with serious injuries. Mowers was taken to Strong Memorial with a leg injury.
Troopers say Burdett is currently in serious but stable condition and Mowers was treated and released.
The investigation is ongoing.
