Corning man arrested for allegedly threatening people, violating Order of Protection
CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) – A Corning man was arrested while on his way to allegedly harm others, including a woman who reportedly had an Order of Protection against him.
Police say they arrested 50-year-old Thomas Whitehead on Tuesday just after noon. Whitehead allegedly had been repeatedly calling a woman's workplace in Corning, making threats against her and other staff members.
Officers say the victim had an Order of Protection against Whitehead.
Additionally, Whitehead allegedly said he was on his way to the business to follow through with his threats.
Responding officers say they found Whitehead on foot walking in the direction of the victim's workplace. Furthermore, police say Whitehead had a large machete he tried to hide in his waistband when officers arrested him.
Whitehead has been charged with:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a felony
- Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, a felony
- Stalking in the Fourth Degree, a misdemeanor
Whitehead was arraigned and sent to the Steuben County Jail on $10,000 bail.
