Vanessa Rizzitano joined the WENY news team as a Morning Anchor/ Reporter/ Producer in July 2019.

In May 2018, she graduated from Curry College in Milton, MA. She was able to receive her bachelor’s degree in Communications in three years. Immediately after graduation, she began her career as a news writer for Boston 25 News in Dedham, MA. She was born and raised on Cape Cod before moving to New York to pursue her dream on-air.

Her passion for television began in 2011, right here in New York. She appeared as a guest on the Nate Berkus show. Producers from the show sent Vanessa and her family to the city, where she was surprised with her dream bedroom set and fell in love with the Television field.

During her time in college, Vanessa won a Student Emmy Award for a Non-Fiction Sports package in 2018. A few months prior, she was a National Finalist for the Video Sports Segment category selected by the National Broadcasting Society. In 2017, she pitched a package to Comcast Sports Network.

Also in college, she was a reporter and host for her school’s channel. In 2017, she was a reporter, host, director and producer at her first internship, Quincy Access Television. Right before graduation, Vanessa interned for Boston’s News Leader, WCVB News Center 5.

Although, Vanessa is far from her home in Massachusetts, she is excited to further her career in the state where it all began.
