(WENY) -- The 11th annual Ride for the Red Motorcycle run is set for Saturday, August 31st. The goal of the event is to raise funds for the Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) program of the Finger Lakes Red Cross.

The ride is supported by the Arkport-Corning Harley Owners Group (HOG) chapter, and Arkport Cycles. It's an event designed to honor local veterans and gold star families from all wars.

The Ride for the Red will begin at the American Legion at 45 Olcott Road S. in Big Flats, with the ride leaving at 10:30 a.m. sharp. It will be led by New York State motorcycle troopers through the beautiful Finger Lakes region.

A meal will be provided for those on the ride during a stop at Arkport Cycles.

Online per-registration, which includes a commemorative, shirt for riders and passengers, is recommended. The deadline for pre-registration is Tuesday, August 20th. The link can be found here: https://events.eventzilla.net/e/11th-annual-ride-for-the-red-motorcycle-run--2138707466
