Hammondsport, N.Y. (WENY) – A Finger Lakes distillery welcomed a special guest this morning. New York Congressman Tom Reed toured the Krooked Tusker Distillery. He learned about the highlights and history of the business.

It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to keep this family-owned and operated business up and running. Co-owner and distiller Carlton Reeves has been running this operation with his wife since 2016.

The Krooked Tusker Distillery has done plenty of tours year round. What made this tour so unique was the special visit from Representative Tom Reed.

The Republican mentioned how he does not want to see small companies go out of business and that it is important to highlight businesses like this one across the region. He touched upon the competition between small and large businesses as well.

Taxes and regulations can also affect small companies, which he says he wants to avoid. Reed mentioned that the Finger Lakes are a popular tourist attraction, which is beneficial to this distillery and others as well. In an interview, Reed said he is proud to sponsor laws that help limit taxes on smaller operations so they won't go out of business.

Krooked Tusker creates vodkas, whiskeys, gins and other spirits made from locally-sourced ingredients. Some of their products have won awards, after being in business for less than three years.
