Ithaca Beer Company asks for a tax break due to unexpected expense
ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Ithaca Beer Company wants Tompkins County to cut the company a break on property tax.The company says it's because of a very large unexpected expense - and now the company is in a tough financial position. But, before a decision is made there's going to be a public hearing. This is according to an article by the "Ithaca Journal".
If the Tompkins County Industrial Development Agency agrees to the tax freeze, it would save the Ithaca Beer Company roughly $300,000 in taxes.
The brewing company says they're making the request because they unexpectedly had to foot the bill for a sewage pre-treatment facility with a $300,000 price-tag. Because of that, the Ithaca Beer Company says they had to cut expenses, and change up the way they do business.
According to the "Ithaca Voice", a public hearing on the request is scheduled for Friday night from 5 to 6 at the South Hill Business Campus on Danby Road in Ithaca.
