Elmira, N.Y (WENY) - A reunion was held today at the Arnot Odgen Medical Center for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. NICU graduates, who were once NICU babies met with doctors, nurses and staff from the medical center this afternoon.

There were plenty of activities for the children to enjoy. Games were set up, lunch was provided, a DJ was shuffling music and superheroes were there as well.

Doctors and nurses at Arnot Health say this is a great opportunity for the NICU nurses to meet with the children they once took care of. They believe it is a positive experience to see how the children have grown since they were in the NICU.

Families were joined by the graduates today to reunite with the doctors who helped bring the children to health. The reunion gives the graduates, families, doctors and nurses a chance to celebrate the relationship and strong bond between Arnot Health, the community and the previous patients.

The system director of marketing, communications and community relations at Arnot Health says "there is no better reward for their work than seeing a healthy, happy child who once struggled to simply live."

The event was held from 1 to 4 this afternoon in the green space behind the medical center. The reunion is held every other year.
