16 pets dead after fire in the Town of Bath
UPDATE 10:00 p.m. 9/11/19: The Bath Volunteer Fire Department says the fire is now under investigation.
According to a press release from Bath VFD, two firefighters had to be treated for heat exhaustion. A tenant was also injured after trying to rescue animals trapped inside. That person suffered several lacerations and smoke inhalation, and has since been treated and released.
The home was deemed a total loss.
Also in the release, the Bath VFD wanted to extend a thank you to the dozen-plus agencies who responded to the fire.
BATH, N.Y. (WENY) – 16 pets are dead and one person is injured after a fire in the Town of Bath, according to the owner of the home.
Crews were first called out to the fire, which happened at a home on County Route 15, around 1:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
The owner of the home spoke to WENY News and said he lost three dogs and 13 cats in the fire. He says his daughter was sent to the hospital after trying to go back inside and rescue the animals. She is being treated for minor injuries, including smoke inhalation.
