CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- It was a packed house Thursday night as democratic candidate, Tracy Mitrano, announced she'll be running for congress next year. Mitrano held her announcement at the Radisson hotel in Corning. She brought up issues she'll be campaigning on like affordable healthcare, education, and student debt. Moving forward, Mitrano believes she has plenty of time for people to get familiar with her stance on issues before election day.

"People want a change," said Mitrano. "Usually it is hard to go against an incumbent. But not one that hasn't done anything for everybody, or anybody, except divide and create discord among his constituents."

Mitrano ran against republican incumbent, Congressman Tom Reed, in 2018. Campaign organizers say she plans to start going out in the public and listening to constituents and organizations about problems that matter to them.
