DIX, N.Y. (WENY) – A New York State K-9 officer is credited with helping troopers locate a suspect in Schuyler County.

On Thursday, State Police say they were attempting to locate a man wanted on a warrant.

Troopers say 33-year-old James Mayo Jr. of Beaver Dams refused to come out of the trailer he was in. After numerous attempts by police to get Mayo to leave the trailer, troopers entered; however, Mayo was reportedly shouting at police from a back bedroom and refused to come out.

It was then that K-9 officer Theo located Mayo and police handcuffed and took him into custody.

Mayo was arrested on the bench warrant, resisting arrest and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
