First snowfall causes no travel headaches at ELM Airport
BIG FLATS, N.Y. (WENY) - Thursday marked the first snowfall of the season.
Officials at the Elmira Corning Regional airport say they have been preparing for Thursday's conditions. The airport say every year they make extensive plans for snow and ice removal, and have all the right equipment to keep the runways and ramps cleared. Officials say because of this, they can keep up with a pretty significant snowfall, making sure the airport is up and running. WENY spoke to the Director of Aviation, Tom Freeman about Thursday's weather conditions. Freeman says he was not too concerned about the weather affecting any flights.
"Really its what happens in Detroit, or what happens in Washington DC. But for the weather we're expecting here today we shouldn't have any delays," says Freeman.
Temperatures will continue to drop Thursday night into the low 20s.
