ELMIRA, NY (WENY) - The Elmira Express have established themselves as one of the premiere programs in Section IV football, as they'll battle for their third straight Class AA title on Friday night. To complete the 3-peat, they'll have to go through the rival Corning Hawks.

The Hawks will host the Express on Friday night at 7:00 PM. Corning (8-1) earned the top seed in the playoffs with an 8-0 win over Elmira (7-2) in the final game of the regular season, a loss that the Express from learned from. Head Coach Jimmy McCaulley says, "We try to look at the film, we try to move on, but we also try to get better. Looking at that film I think we did some good things. There are some things we need to sure up and take care of and I think we did a great job of that this week." Senior Nate Latshaw adds, "We learned a lot but I think if we come out and get the job done and do all of our jobs on defense and offense then we'll win the game."

Though winning a third straight section title would be very impressive, it's not how the Express look at things. McCaulley says, "Each and every year we start from scratch, so right now it's a brand new season and quite honestly, you can ask any of these guys, no one cares what we did last year, two years ago. Everybody's worried about what we're going to do this week."

The Express finished the regular season with a record of 6-2, before topping Horsheads 28 to 12 in the semi-final.

Tune into WENY News Friday at 11:00 PM for highlights of the Section IV Class AA championship.
