HARRISBURG, Pa. (WENY) -- Nonprofits in the commonwealth will now have financial assistance for safety and security measures with the creation of the Pennsylvania Keystone Tree Fund.

The Senate last month passed a measure creating a five-year, $5 million grant program to protect against hate crimes.

The legislation is now law, with Governor Wolf adding his signature yesterday.

According to the governor, the legislation was request in response to attacks against the Jewish community, including the shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh.
