Cellphone use while driving skyrockets, drinking and driving accidents at lowest level since 2009

Records find that accidents involving cell phone use have skyrocketed 86% since 2009. In 2009, 650 texting and driving accidents were reported. In 2018, that number jumped to 1,212. 924 accidents related to cellphone use alone.
On the other hand, the number of drinking and driving accidents has dropped to the lowest rate in a decade. Police have reported 4.4% fewer accidents where drugs and alcohol were a factor. Police are urging drivers to be safe when getting behind the wheel.
