UPDATE, 11/22/2019 AT 7:05 a.m.: ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Shawna Reese was located walking in the city of Ithaca after midnight by a concerned citizen, according to Ithaca Police.

She was then taken to the St. Johns Community Center, where an employee contacted police.

Authorities responded and confirmed the teen was Shawna Reese, who appeared to be safe and unharmed.

Ithaca Police transported Shawna's mother to the community center, where she was reunited with her daughter.

The Ithaca Police Department would like to thank the community and other agencies who assisted in efforts that led to this positive outcome.


UPDATE, 11/22/2019 at 3:03 a.m.: ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) -- The search for an autistic 15-year-old in Ithaca has come to an end.

As of 3:03 a.m., a cancellation notice of the New York State Missing Child Alert was issued on behalf of the Ithaca Police Department.

Shawna Reese had been missing since 3:15 yesterday afternoon.

Authorities were never concerned that she was the victim of a crime, but they were worried about her well-being because of her diagnosis.
