Local athlete takes home 11th place in national cross country championship
(WENY) – It was a big week for one local athlete. Jessica Lawson from Corning took home 11th place at a national cross country competition.
According to our media Partner, the Star Gazette, Lawson won 11th place in the women's race at the NCAA cross country championship on Saturday. The championship was in Indiana.
She finished the 6 kilometer race in 20 minutes and 24.6 seconds. She was the second fastest on her team.
Lawson is a 2017 Corning Painted Post graduate and currently attends Stanford University.
This is not her first win. She also competed for outdoor track and indoor track. Between these 3 sports, Lawson has won 7 titles for Corning.
