Arctic League cuts down tree for Sunday's annual broadcast
BEAVER DAMS, N.Y. (WENY) – Tuesday morning, the Arctic League cut down the tree that will grace Powers Theater at Clemens Center for their annual broadcast.
Every year, members of the Arctic League Broadcast Committee review trees around Chemung County that were nominated by the community. This year, the chosen tree was donated by Alan and Debbie Brant of Beaver Dams.
Organizers say the annual tree donation is just another example of how generous the community is.
“It's a beautiful sense of community and the giving nature of people who not only contribute monetarily, but also contribute in kind,” said Tom Seem, Chairman of the Broadcast Committee.
On Saturday, the tree will be decorated by volunteers from the Elmira Little Theater with décor provided by the Christmas house.
“When we decorate this tree and we turn on the cameras and everyone sees how it fits in with the broadcast, it becomes extremely important for the community to know that everyone is pulling together to make the Arctic League a success,” said Seem.
The broadcast will take place on Sunday, December 1 from 10:00 – 1:00 and will be shown on WENY-TV.
