Steuben Sheriff's Department receives statewide recognition
BATH, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Steuben County Sheriff's Department has received state recognition for its excellence.
Sheriffs Association Executive Director Peter Kehoe re-accredited the department's civil and corrections divisions Monday, as well as the court security division.
Kehoe noted that less than half of all county sheriff offices have been accredited.
To be accredited, Sheriff Jim Allard's divisions submitted to scrutiny by an outside, independent board of assessors which reviewed the agency's operations under very stringent set of standards and best practice developed by experts in law enforcement.
Kehoe said the excellence of all departments is due to their dedication to the welfare of county residents.
