Parade of Lights in Corning's Gaffer District

CORNING, N.Y.(WENY)--The weather was cool but clear, making it a great night for this light-filled parade. Community members as well as out of town visitors lined Market street, full of anticipation as the bright floats moved down the road. For some, this parade is an annual tradition but for others, it was their first time coming out and they were so happy that they made it out.
"We don't have this at home, it's bigger cities this is such a small town feel and it kind of feels like Christmas. I just like that this is small town, everybody's friendly, it's not like the city you know. Just people brushing off and getting by, you have you're whole town out here this is great," says Kenny and Cindy Herzog, Out of Town Parade Attendees.
The parade was filled with music, dancing, and of course lights which ran down Corning's Market Street for well over 20 minutes. WENY spoke with numerous viewers who said despite the cold temperatures, it was well worth it to see the parade back in motion this year.
Unfortunately the parade was one night only, but there are still plenty of events to come this winter in the Gaffer District.
