TOWN OF ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) – Three people were injured after a car collided with a plow truck Monday morning in the Town of Ithaca.

According to the Ithaca Fire Department, the crash happened around 9:30 a.m. on Slaterville Road near Burns Road. Ithaca Fire Rescue, Bangs Ambulance, the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office and State Police responded to the scene.

Once there, crews found the car off the road and down an embankment with a woman trapped inside. The driver, who suffered minor injuries, was reportedly able to climb up and out of the car. Crews say the driver of the plow truck also suffered minor injuries.

The Ithaca Fire Department's Heavy Rescue, along with another engine company, was requested to the scene. Crews were able to secure the car to the heavy rescue truck so it wouldn't fall further down the ravine and get the woman out of the car.

She and the driver of the car were taken to local hospitals.

Crews say the roads were closed and crews were cleaning up for about an hour. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
