Athens township PBA drops off gifts to children in need
Athens Township, PA (WENY) -- Christmas came early for some 57 kids on Santa's good list in the northern tier.
The Athens township police benevolent association dropped off gifts as part of their "Sirens for Santa" program. The PBA raise money through donations and then purchases toys for kids in need. This year was their biggest, bringing in over ten-thousand dollars. The department dropped of gifts to kids all throughout the 44 square miles they cover.
Chief Roger Clink said days like theses are months in the making. But it all makes it worth it seeing the look on kids faces.
“It's maybe a year long endeavor but like I said, this is the easy part. This is the fun part when we get to see the look and their faces and see how grateful they are and it's just special.” said Chief Clink.
Gifts that were dropped off includes clothes, toys and even bikes.
