Elmira church offers drive-thru prayer service
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- With "social distancing" becoming the new norm across the country, people are thinking outside-the-box. For one church in the Southern Tier -- they want to make sure that people still have access to the power of prayer.
The Southside Alliance Church on Pennsylvania Avenue in Elmira hosted a drive-thru prayer service. People could drive up, and at a safe distance get the spiritual support from members of the church without even getting out of the car. For the pastor of the church, he says he has never done anything like this before, but that it's important that people have peace and hope no matter the situation.
Pastor Tre Reaume said, "We want everyone to be able to stop in, we're here for you, that's the point. It doesn't matter where you come from, where you have been, what you believe or what you don't believe, we would have the honor and the privilege to actually pray with you just to serve you, just to say we love you and we're with you -- and there is a god who certainly cares and is with you as well."
