Keller urges Wolf to move all counties in his district to 'yellow' phase
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Pennsylvania Rep. Fred Keller (R) is ramping up pressure on Gov. Tom Wolf (D) with a clear message this week: enough is enough.
The first-term Congressman is urging Wolf to reopen more parts of Pennsylvania that can safely do so. Parts of Keller’s 12th Congressional District – including the Northern Tier – reopened last week under the commonwealth’s “yellow” phase. But some counties remain in the “red” phase. The difference has created some backlash among business owners in the district.
Keller published an op-ed in newspapers across the district on Monday sharing his frustration and calling on Wolf to move all counties in PA-12 to the “yellow phase.” He says Wolf’s plan makes little sense because the red counties are also rural and have a low number of COVID-19 cases.
Keller recently spoke about this with our Washington Correspondent Matt Knoedler.
“Safely, we can reopen practicing the CDC guidelines,” Keller said. “This is an important point: the small businesses, medium… and largest businesses and their employees are very smart. They will figure out how to do this safely.”
Locally, Tioga and Bradford counties are in the “yellow phase.”
