Elmira man facing assault, drug charges after stabbing on Oak Street
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) – An Elmira man was arrested after a reported stabbing on Oak Street.
On Sunday around 1:20 a.m., police responded to a home in the 1000 block of Oak Street; after arriving, they say they found a 45-year-old man with a knife wound to his throat.
The victim was airlifted to the hospital for treatment and is in stable condition, police say.
Officers say they spoke with several people and learned the victim and suspect knew each other. They suspect, 34-year-old Darell Driscoll, was located a short time later near the scene and arrested.
Driscoll was charged with Assault in the First Degree. Police say he was also found to be in possession with meth and cocaine at the time of the arrest, and was also charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Police say Driscoll is also on State Parole for a weapons charge.
