After a pleasant day today, the rain will return as we head into Friday afternoon. A weak cold front will push into the Twin Tiers beginning Friday afternoon and bring us showers and rain which may be heavy at times. Starting off the day Friday, clouds will begin to increase before we are mainly cloudy by the beginning of the afternoon. Showers will begin to push into the region from west to east starting around noon. They will slowly progress east and will not make their way towards the central and eastern part of our region until the evening commute. Rain at times during the evening commute will be heavy, limiting visibility on some area roadways. Rain continues to move off towards the east, but will stick with us into early Friday night. After midnight, showers will begin to dry up and push out of the viewing area by Saturday morning. Rain totals west of Elmira will be between .25" and .5" while areas Elmira and eastward will likely see rain totals between .5" and .75" with localized amounts near an inch. Also, with a cold front approaching, we will again be in the chilly side with highs in the mid and low 50s. Higher elevations will struggle to reach the 50s and may be stuck in the upper 40s for the afternoon.
