UPDATE 5/21/21 11 a.m. - The Sheriff's Office has captured the passenger of the car; Danielle Bowen of Elmira is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon. The search is still on for the driver of the car. 


UPDATE: 2:10 p.m. Chemung County Undersheriff Sean Holley tells WENY News police are searching for suspects in the area of East Franklin Street after they reportedly fled a traffic stop along County Route 64. 

Undersheriff Holley says police were conducting an interdiction detail along County Route 64 Thursday morning; an interdiction is "the act of interrupting a drug trade".

Police pulled a car over, but the suspects fled, leading deputies on a short pursuit. Holley tells WENY News firearms were recovered along County Route 64.

Later, with the help of New York State Police and the Steuben County Sheriff's Office, officers say they located the suspect car along East Franklin Street in Horseheads. Undersheriff Holley says at this time, police believe the suspects were picked up by another car.

HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) – There is a heavy police presence along County Route 64 near in Horseheads.

According to WENY’s reporter on scene, several patrol cars from the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office are parked along the side of the road, near the ALDI. Officers appear to be searching the embankment off I-86.
