Katerina Belales joined the WENY News team in August 2021 as an anchor and producer for Good Morning Twin Tiers. Originally from Southington, CT, she is thrilled to begin her professional career in the Twin Tiers!

Katerina graduated summa cum laude with departmental honors from Hofstra University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Drama and a minor in Musical Theatre. During her time at Hofstra, Katerina had the opportunity to intern at NBC's Weekend Today, CNN's Erin Burnett OutFront and MSNBC.

She has additionally been honored by the Alliance for Women in Media, the Press Club of Long Island and the Fair Media Council for her work at Hofstra's three-time Marconi Award-winning radio station WRHU-FM. There, Katerina was a producer and anchor for the evening newscast Newsline, and a host and co-executive producer for the station’s flagship entertainment show The Screening Room.

Katerina also held a variety of roles as on-air talent with Hofstra Entertainment Access Television (HEAT) Network. She was Head Anchor of Hofstra's award-winning broadcast television news show, Hofstra Today, and also covered the 2020 Presidential Election as one of the three Head Anchors for the Folio Award-winning broadcast of Hofstra Votes Live: Charting the 2020 Election.

When you’re not waking up with Katerina in the morning, you can find her geeking out about everything Broadway, singing and dancing her heart out, spending time with friends and family, and exploring all of what the Twin Tiers have to offer.
