ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - Elmira is closer to having an official team name for the inaugural season of the Professional Box Lacrosse Association.

On July 19th, the PBLA announced 7 cities that will be a part of the league, including Elmira. Since then, fans were able to nominate team names for their local teams, and four finalists were chosen where fans can now vote to determine the official name of their local PBLA team.

Below are the four finalists for Elmira's team name:

  • Elmira Tilt
  • Elmira Express
  • Elmira Renegades
  • Elmira Huckleberries

President of Mammoth Sports & Entertainment, and operator of First Arena, Steve Donner is the Commissioner of the PBLA and has announced that the league will have its first national player combine in Elmira at First Arena in the third week of August where hundreds of players from across the country will come to Elmira to compete and be tested for fitness. There will be exhibition games open to the public, and from that player pool, the first league draft will be held.

The other six cities that will compete in the inaugural season with Elmira are Binghamton, Charlotte, Hampton, New England, and Trenton.
