HAMMONDSPORT, NY (WENY) -- This week in wine country, sponsored by Finger Lakes Wine Country, we are visiting the Finger Lakes Boating Museum in Steuben County.

The museum is dedicated to the preservation and education of the Finger Lakes' boating heritage. The museum is home to hundreds of antique boats, built by commercial builders from across the region. The museum is spread across several buildings on the former Taylor Wine Company campus, with plans for further expansion.

Visitors to the museum can see boats of all types, from canoes to sailboats, all built in the Finger Lakes. The museum is also host to a restoration shop, where volunteers spend hundreds of hours repairing and restoring antique boats.

The Finger Lakes Boating Museum is also the home of the Pat II, which was renovated by volunteers after rescue from a marine boneyard. The vessel now offers daily excursions on Keuka Lake, where the crew educates travelers about the Pat II's story, and the history of boating in the Finger Lakes.

The museum if open daily, from 10AM - 5PM. Admission is $10 for adults, and children are free. Memberships to the museum begin at $35.

The museum hosts a number of educational and hands-on workshops, programs, camps, concerts, events and fundraisers throughout the year. To find out what events are happening at the FLBM, click here.
