ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) - TCAT riders and employees will no longer have to wear face masks on public transportation.
That's because on Wednesday, New York Governor Kathy Hochul lifted the mask mandate on public transportation in New York State.
TCAT assistant general manager Mike Smith said that the company has adhered closely to federal, state and local guidelines since the beginning of the pandemic.
"I thank our passengers too for their cooperation and masking up throughout this lengthy pandemic season," Smith said. "And of course, any rider still has the option to wear a mask according to their personal preferences."
Smith also said that any TCAT rider still has the option to wear a mask according to their personal preferences.
