UPDATE: The Spencer-Van Etten Central School District Superintendent posted a letter to the school community about the loss of one of its students. 

In a letter dated September 28th and posted to the district website on Thursday, it reads in part, "It is with deep regret that I must inform you about a recent loss to our school community. We were just notified about the passing of senior Traviz Allen this afternoon. The loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school, especially our staff."

The district has its Crisis Intervention team available for students, parents, and district employees. Counselors are available for students or staff who may need support.

SPENCER, N.Y. (WENY) - The Tioga County Sheriff's Office investigated a personal injury crash on Ithaca Road in Spencer.

According to the Sheriff's office, A four-door sedan was traveling south on Ithaca Road when it went off the road and crashed into a house.

Police say the driver, a 16 year-old male, suffered serious injuries and was brought to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. None of the people in the home were seriously injured.

The crash is still under investigation.

The Tioga County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the Spencer Fire Department, Spencer EMS, Candor EMS, Guthrie EMS, New York State Department of Transportation and the Tioga County Crash Investigation Unit.
