NICHOLS, N.Y. (WENY) -- Tioga United Way is hosted a singing competition, Friday evening, at the Tioga Downs Casino Resort.

Tioga United Way's Executive Director, Meredith Sagor, helped organize “United with Voices.” Sagor said this event raises money for 32 agencies in Tioga County.

“We support anybody from the youth to our adults to our elderly,” she said. “Anything from the disabled to the anybody needing food or shelter.”

Sagor said the money raised from tonight's fundraiser will go towards local organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club, Boys Scouts of America, Girls Scouts of America, senior centers and more. Sagor added, she is happy to bring back a singing competition for this year's fundraiser because it brings a fun element to the event.

Singer Allie Torto came to the event to be a judge and bring her honest, authentic feedback to the competition.

“I'm in the music industry, locally, and you know...being known and able to write music and perform...they thought I would be a good person to help judge,” she said.

Torto added, she wanted to be a part of this event to give back to the community.

“I love that the money that is donated to the people for voting is given back to the community for the United Way of Tioga,” she said.

10-year-old Ella Goodrich came out to the fundraiser to perform in the singing competition. Goodrich said she loves to make people happy with her singing.

“I wanted to be a part of it to show my voice and also...make some money for people...with the fundraiser,” she said.

Anyone can still donate to Tioga United Way’s cause. Sagor said anyone can donate via Venmo with Tioga United Way’s handle, @TIOGAUNITEDWAY.
