ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Every seat in the Chemung County Legislative was up for grabs Tuesday night. Although some of the candidates ran unopposed, there were a few candidates who were not.  

For the 1st District, Lawana Morse pulled ahead of Jim Hassell with 69% of the votes. Tom Sweet won the race for the County's 3rd Legislative District, with about 75% of the votes. Joseph Brennan defeated Ed Bond for the 4th District of the County Legislature, tallying 58% of the votes.  

Chairwoman of the Chemung County GOP, Sara Lattin, says she's so proud to see so many people who are passionate about helping out Chemung County.  

“The energy in this room and the excitement for our candidates at the county and state level is beyond anything I’ve ever seen,“ Sara Lattin, Chairwomen of Chemung County’s GOP, said.  

John Burin won re-election in the 9th Legislative district with 56% of the votes. Also in Chemung's 11th legislative District, new candidate Brent Stermer won with 47% of the votes.
