ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Meet Bubbles, WENY's Pet of the Week from the Chemung County Humane Society & SPCA!

Bubbles is a two-year-old male terrier mix who truly lives up to his name. His bubbly personality comes with a ton of energy that is sure to keep any owner always moving. He is a bit picky towards his canine friends due to his energetic personality, and -- due to his previous experiences chasing smaller animals -- he does not do well with cats. Bubbles' size and energy also factor in his behavior around children, so it is recommended that any child in a family that adopts him be 12 years old or older.

The SPCA will be holding its Careers in Veterinary Medicine class Sunday, Jan. 15. The 90-minute course allows high school students to explore the field of veterinary medicine. Students will learn about various veterinary career options, as well as get hands-on experience observing a spay/neuter clinic and performing basic exams on animals. For more information on this program, head to the SPCA's education section on its website.

A few days prior, the shelter will be partnering with Card Carrying Books & Gifts in Corning for a "Read with Kitties" event. On Friday, Jan. 13, visitors can stop by Card Carrying Books & Gifts to read to some "cool cats" and even potentially adopt one. More information about Friday's event can be found here.

The SPCA will be collecting donations at Friday's event, but are also open to accepting items any day of the week. It is in need of dry dog food as well as towels and blankets, but any donation will always be appreciated.

If you or someone you know is interested in adopting Bubbles, fill out an application on the SPCA's website here.
